Brian is a master carpenter by trade and has been keeping and breeding tropical fish for over 36 years and is a dedicated fish hobbyist. He has a purpose built fish room adjoining his house, which has 20 tanks in holding approximately 900 gallons of water. Brian is the chairman of his local fish club as well as being the current chairman of the Northern Federation of Aquarium Societies (FNAS) of which his local club is a member. Brian is also active around the fish club circuit and for the last 25 years has been giving fish related talks to Aquarium societies all over UK.

Brian has kept, bred and shown many varieties of fish, but his main interests have always been with Catfish and Characins, added to his love of fishes and his passion for working with wood he started many years ago producing life like carvings of fishes and animals, some of which were donated to fish clubs as major award trophies. For many years Brian has provided the Catfish Study Group with host of superb Catfish carvings, which were given as mementoes to visiting speakers at their conventions and has now combined the two passions and added wood carving and painting to his business portfolio. His wood carvings are renown throughout the hobby in the UK and are becoming sought after pieces of art.
